Writing really is my passion, and I am trying to get my feet off the ground and actually make substantial money working within the field. I write for shebudgets.com as most of you know, and I am waiting to hear back on my first freelance editing job. I am constantly on the lookout for opportunities like that. But I also write my own fiction -urban fantasy novels actually, and I hope one day to see my stories in print.
Here's an excerpt from my novel-in-progress, Runaway (Chapter 3):
It wasn’t long before the sweet aroma of coffee
wafted through the air, instantly lifting my mood. I still wasn’t thrilled
about my crappy sleep and the wretched hour I was awake at, but I had caffeine
so life could be worse. The idea of facing the day without it would be
terrifying. I’m not a crazy coffee junkie but I liked to get my fix, especially
when I had to get up early. Or when my life was somehow being threatened. Both
which applied to my current situation. Not exactly the greatest combination of
things to start off one’s day.
The cats began to stir and joined me in the kitchen
as I poured myself a steaming cup of liquid deliciousness, bumping their heads
into my legs and demanding to have their ears scratched. I complied, wishing I
could stay in this moment and not have to deal with anything. Coffee and cats
–there wasn’t much else a girl could ask for. I’d take that over stalkers and
psychos any day of the week. But reality was bubbling up underneath the morning
haze and soon I couldn’t stop thinking about the shit situation I was in.
Hope you enjoyed the sneek-peek!

More please! :D
