2013 Reading List

Although I am not completely finished with my schooling, my time as a college student is reaching it's end. I couldn't be happier about this, because while I have enjoyed much of my time studying and living on campus, I am more than ready to start a new chapter in my life. And with the end of schoolwork comes more free time to devote to the things I love, like reading!

I have compiled a list of books that I am hoping to read this year with all my extra time. I made the list first on my goodreads account as a shelf. It is a rather long list that I know I will deviate from a bit, perhaps take things off of, and undoubtedly add to. But I wanted to share a few of the things on it that I am definitely cracking open this year.

Women Who Run With the Wolves: Myths and Stories of the Wild Woman Archetype
I'm actually already in the process of reading this one and have been for awhile. It's really good and I highly recommend it for all women.

The Casual Vacancy
I am a huge Harry Potter fan so J.K. Rowling's new book is a necessary read for me, even if it's not my usual type of read.

Hit List (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #20)
Hit List is #20 in my favourite urban fantasy series and it has been out for awhile (#21 is even out now!) so the fact that I haven't read it is a bit ridiculous. I need to catch up!

Good Omens
I've heard nothing but great things about this book and I am excited to finally read it. I love Neil Gaiman so I'm sure it's an ace read.

The Fault in Our Stars
I haven't read any John Green yet and that seems like some kind of crime within the literary community so I plan to rectify this folly. Looking for Alaska is also on the list.

Those are the top at the moment. I'll keep you updated with my reads, or at least I will try to. Remind me!

365 Portrait Challenge

I decided to go through with the 365 portrait challenge idea I mentioned the other day! I'm not sure if I'll be able to finish it, or if I will actually manage some kind of self portrait everyday, but I am certainly going to try.

I will be posting all my self portraits to my instagram so follow along if you're interested. I will post some of my favourites here every now and then as well of course, and to my tumblr.

Here are my first two, from yesterday and today. Don't worry, you'll get pictures of my face eventually, I've just looked like crap the past few days, haha.

365 portrait challenge day 1, laziness at it’s best. me in pjs #365
Jan 1, Being lazy in my pjs
arm bruise, origins unknown, portrait challenge #365
Jan 2, Arm bruise with unidentified cause
Anyone else doing a 365 challenge for the year?

January Goals

It is January 1, 2013. Whoa! A whole new year starts today. I'm not the type to make New Years Resolutions though, so I am not going to be one of those bloggers who gives you a lists of all the things they are going to do and change. I am a pretty indecisive person, always coming up with new things and changing my mind about the old ones. I would much rather stick with my simple monthly goals as they are much easier to tackle and stick to.

So, for January, I am thinking...

Look for an online writing job (and hopefully get one!)
Write. A lot.
Start a 365 portrait challenge (day 1 is today, check back later!)
Reopen the shop & update it.

Simple stuff really, some things to help me get back into the swing of my everyday life. Everything has been really hectic the last few weeks, so returning to some kind of normal stability will be nice.

Got any monthly goals or new years resolutions?
