August in Review

August was definitely not as busy as July, but it was filled with work. Which is a good thing for my wallet and a blah thing in regards to my free time and having fun. I really wish another beach trip could have happened this summer, but ah well. Autumn is near and next week I start classes again. Yikes! But I'm almost done for good, I just try to keep holding onto that thought.

Anyways, time to look back on my August Goals. I didn't have much to do, however, the move kind of put a halt on a lot of it.

Get 2 more chapters of Runaway written. -wrote one
Make a serious dent in my reading list.
Work on my art journal more.
Update the blog with 2 tarot posts. wrote one
Hoop hoop hoop!
Purge and organize the entire house.
Update both shops more than once. -updated the etsy shop
Practice my Italian for next semester.

That was what I had to do. Damn, I didn't really do any of this, haha. I did finish one chapter of Runaway and I did read a bit. Halfway through City of Lost Souls (by Cassandra Clare) right now. My art journal was unfortunately neglected and is actually buried in a bin of craft supplies at the moment.

I updated the blog with one tarot post, but another one is in the works.

I hooped! Not as much as I wanted to, but I did hoop at least once a week. I technically purged and organized the house -I purged while moving and am now in the process of organizing everything in the new apartment. Hopefully I can get that mostly done this weekend.

I updated my etsy shop but not my thrift shop. Whoops. Hopefully more stuff will be up in both soon. I have a few days off next week so here's hoping to being productive.

Aaand I did not practice my Italian. At all. Fail. Oh well, I'll just wing it when classes start next week. I know I should care more but I'm not a fan of the professor or the class, I just need it to qualify for a Bachelor of Arts instead of Science.

This month wasn't as productive as I wanted it to be, hopefully next month is better. With school starting up we'll see how it goes. I am so not looking forward to homework.

New Item in the Shop!

I'm hoping to find some free time to make a few more things to to be listed in the shop soon, but for now I just have this quick little update.

I got cute little pentacle charms about a week or two ago and I finally made my first thing using them. I've got lots of ideas floating around in my head but for the first item with them I thought I'd keep it simple.

Bright Pentacle Earrings -Howlite, Pentagram, Witchy, Wiccan, Star, Stone, Pink, Green, Turquoise, Pagan

Bright Pentacle Earrings -Howlite, Pentagram, Witchy, Wiccan, Star, Stone, Pink, Green, Turquoise, Pagan

Bright Pentacle Earrings -Howlite, Pentagram, Witchy, Wiccan, Star, Stone, Pink, Green, Turquoise, Pagan

The stone chip beads are pieces of dyed howlite. I love the bright colours, they remind me of spring.

You can buy these earrings (or just check them out or share them) here.

Moving Update + Tumblr Tuesday

Moving is going well, although I wish it would just be done already. We have most everything into the new place but there are still some items that need to be moved and we need to clean up the old place. And do laundry. Plus we're dealing with my cat and Sue's cat learning to get along with each other. Eli is thrilled to have a cat friend, but unfortunately Tuscany is not as happy about it. Hopefully they'll sort it out soon enough.

Anyways, I know I haven't updated much this past week, but I thought I'd at least do a Tumblr Tuesday post so you all have some pictures to look at. Better than nothing, right? Haha.

So I'm Moving Again

Sorry it's been so quiet around here everyone, but as the title of this post says, I am moving again. Not far, just around the corner. Me and Mike (and Eli, the hedgehog and rats!) are moving in with my best friend, Sue, and her boyfriend around the corner.

Moving is a lot of work, especially between me and Mike both going to our respective jobs. And on top of all that I had to take Eli to get neutered today because we didn't want to move him without getting it done first. Their old roommate had a male cat and although he's never sprayed before we didn't want to take the chance.  So we dropped him off this morning and just picked him up about an hour ago. He's currently lying under the bed at the new place, still a bit drugged up and looking really out of it. We're keeping him locked up for the night with all his things and then tomorrow he'll be introduced to the rest of the house as well as their cat. Hopefully they get along fine.

So that's why it's been so dead here. If I'm not at work standing in front of a cash register than I'm moving boxes, rearranging furniture, washing dishes and trying to figure out how to hang a shelf. My whole body is sore and I feel perpetually exhausted. But I keep powering through. I'm determined to have everything moved out and the old place cleaned up by the third of the month so we don't have to pay rent for September. At the rate I'm going I may be able to accomplish it. I have work tomorrow, but the next two days off in which I'm hoping to accomplish a good chunk of the cleaning.

I will try to update sometime in between. I hope everyone's weekend is going well!

I Promise

I spend a good amount of time reading the love-filled and inspiring blogs of some seriously amazing people. Their words fill me up and have helped me to become firm in my love for myself. They are kindred souls who have made me feel less alone.

So I have made a promise to myself.

I promise to work hard at what I love & not listen to others who try to tell me what I "have" to do to be successful. I will make my own way

I promise to be myself in all aspects of Life. To practice my crafts, revel in love, and nurture my soul. To be strange and free and wild.

I promise that I will not let my past control me. I will not allow others to dictate my actions or emotions. I will not regret my life.

I promise that I will be true to love, the Universe, and most importantly, Myself. For I am the Universe and the Universe is me.

I am in control. No one else gets to hold the reigns. There is no room for negativity. My soul is honest & it dances with me upon the Earth.

Soul Music (New Moon)

Picture is not of me, found on Tumblr.
It's a New Moon tonight and after a candlelit herbal bath to relax and refresh my spirit I became inspired to share with you all some of the music that seems to speak directly to my soul. You know the kind of music -those songs that when you hear them your heart jumps in your chest, your spirit leaps in recognition, and your whole being just connects with the tune.

This is some of my soul music.

I couldn't get two of the songs I wanted to add to the playlist, so if you get a chance, look up

I hope you enjoy the music. Happy New Moon!

Thrifty Thursday // Mug Love

I found both these mugs awhile back and I love them both. I love mugs in general actually and I love finding good ones at the thrift store. I don't think I paid over a dollar for either of these.

The Starbucks mug is soooo big, it's great for a big cup of coffee to get me going in the morning. Or a nice big soothing cup of tea at the end of the day. The elephant mug is smaller but just as wonderful! I usually drink black tea out of it during the day. Earl Grey is a favourite, although Chinese Oolong is probably the best as far as I'm concerned. So smooth and delicious!

Anyone thrift anything cool lately? Or have awesome mugs to share? I'd love to see.

Wordy Wednesday

Wordy Wednesday is back! Sorry it took so long, my writing motivation hasn't been very high, something I seriously need to fix. I have to get my write on if I want to go anywhere with my words!

Vintage Typewriter "Writing Machine no. 1" at Los Angeles Flea Market - 8x10" Fine Art Matte Photography Print
This is a random bit of writing from a few years ago. I just found it on my computer and I honestly have no idea what I was doing with it or where it was supposed to go, haha. I hope you enjoy it anyways. Also, read it in a British accent, it sounds better.

“It is far too cold a night to be August,” Lord Brighton commented offhand. “Surely it is weather more suitable to October or some such month between summer and winter. What say you George?”
George Livingston glanced over at his companion, a man of such incomparable classic good-looks, who was infamous in the London society for his outrageous words. It was only a month ago that the two men had met. Their paths had crossed at a small dinner party held by the Dowager Duchess of Rochester. George had been quite enthralled with James Brighton and they immediately struck up a friendship. He couldn’t exactly say what it was about James that so fascinated him but he supposed it had something to do with his wild theories and odd perspective of the world.
At present the two were heading out of their club and off to the theatre.
“It is rather brisk, isn’t it?” George replied. “What is the play we are to see tonight?”
James gave an extravagant hand gesture as if the title of the play were bigger than life itself. “It is none other than Romeo and Juliet, the most divine of tragedies, don’t you agree?”
“I’ve always found it rather pitiful,” the other man replied.
“You do not see its beauty, my friend. Such a tragedy of a romance can be nothing but pure divinity. It is the beauty of it, the rashness of the lovers enveloped in their love that makes it so fantastic.”
“But nothing is accomplished,” George pointed out.
“Nothing need be accomplished, it is art. We should all live like such art. It is brilliant.”
“If you say so, dear friend. I shall accompany you but I don’t believe it is as much as all of that.”
“Of course it is,” James insisted. “And Juliet is to be played by none other than Miss. Amelia Devon. Surely you’ve heard of her?”
“I’m afraid I have not.”
“Ah, you are in for a wonderful spectacle of the true art of acting, George. She is God’s gift to the theatre.”

What do you think? I know, it's really random and has no real direction, but writing wise it's not too bad. I don't think so at least, correct me if I'm wrong.

Style Obsession // Harem Pants

I am in love with harem pants. Seriously, they're great -comfy and stylish all at once. I don't own a pair yet but I'm hoping to add a few to my wardrobe sometime soon. In the mean time I've been drooling over these from Oasap which I will not be able to afford even a little bit. Mine will have to come from thrifting luck or a cheaper department or mall store.

Bohemian Striped Harem Pants
I really wish i could justify spending 54$ on these, because I'm in love with them <3 i="i">

Vertical Striped Pattern Elastic Cuff Harem Pants

Zipped Cropped Length Harem Pants

Metal Ball Detail Punk Style Harem Pants

Dana from Wonder Forest recently styled those last pair and she looks fabulous in them! Check out her post on them here.

So many great styles, now if only I had the money for them all! Maybe someday, in the far away future, haha. Hopefully a trip to Salvation Army will be kind to me and I'll find a nice pair in my size. Fingers crossed!

What is everyone else obsessing out style-wise lately?

Why I Love Quartz

I love crystals and stones. I enjoy exploring my local New Age shop for beautiful pieces that radiate good energy and collecting them on my altar or making them into jewelry. I believe in the energy and properties that stones hold. One of my favourites by far is quartz.

Four Clear Quartz Crystal Points from Arkansas
Buy here.
It's a simple crystal that's not hard to find or particularly expensive. It's popular to be seen on jewelry right now and every witch, pagan, or other new age-inclined person has at least one but probably more. So why do I love it so much?
  • It's easy to find, either in nature or in shop or online. Quartz is not a rare stone so it's easy to get whenever you need it. There are lots of different types of quartz and chances are you can go in your backyard and manage to find a piece. I own a bunch of found quartz that I collected from my yard, driveways, the woods, and the beach. My local New Age shop sells Tibetan quartz points for 50 cents each! That's a pretty great deal and they usually have a huge tray of them. Etsy is also a great place to search for it if there's nowhere near you that sells what you're looking for.
  • They're versatile. Quartz is probably the most useful stone to have for magickal purposes. It works as an amplifier for other stones or magickal ingredients, giving them a power-boost. It can also help amp up your own personal energy. So if you're a mostly positive person and you want to stay that way, carrying a quartz crystal around will definitely help. It also works as a sponge. Weird terminology for a stone, I know, but it's true! You can imbue quartz with energy energy you want and it will hold it. very handy if you're doing a spell that needs a stone you don't have.
  • It looks great as jewelry. I see tons of quartz jewelry on Etsy (and sell some of it myself!) and am blown away by some of the beautiful stuff people make! Pendants, earrings, rings, bracelets, everything under the sun! Tangerine quartz looks great for sunny jewelry. But regular clear quartz looks great with everything because you don't have to worry about colours clashing!
Quartz Crystal Necklace
Buy here.
Best stone ever, right? I have a bunch of other favourits, but quartz is something I like to collect and keep in abundance just because of how useful and easily attainable it is.

Anyone else love quartz? Or any other stone or crystals? Please share!

Hello Friday, It's About Time You Got Here

It has been a long week guys. I feel bad because I missed the normal Tumblr Tuesday, didn't do a thrift post on Thursday and now I'm not doing my usual Feminist Friday post either. I'm sorry, I suck as this blogging thing right now. I'm adjusting to my new job and trying to learn how to re-balance everything I've got going on. It's only going to get worse once the fall semester starts up, something I am not looking forward to but is continually creeping closer. I'm trying not to think about it.

Thankfully I have tomorrow off, but I have to work again Sunday. The only nice thing about that is it's time and a half. I'm getting used to the register and I'm pretty good at bagging, but spending 4-6 hours on your feet every day and exhausting. Can I just be a magickal, travelling gypsy now?

My soul needs to be fed. Tomorrow I am going to spend some time with the ever-lovely Sue, drink tea, write some of my novel, meditate, scroll through tumblr and just be. I'm glad to be making money but it's tiring and drains me of energy so that I don't have the motivation (or time) to nourish my spirit when I get home. I'm sure once I get used to it things will smooth out a bit and I'll find a good pattern. Hopefully that happens soon.

How has everyone else's week been?

Wishlist Wednesday

I've decided that Wordy Wednesday and Wishlist Wednesday will share the weekly spot and I'll just post whichever I'm feeling more when the day comes around. Because I like to be versatile with my days of the week. I don't think that makes any sense, haha. My brain is a bit frazzled. I've been doing cashier training for my new job this week and it's been a lot of work so far. I come home completely tired out. But don't worry, I'm going to try my hardest not to let it slow me down in the blogging world.

So for today's wishlist post I'm sharing some cool things I've found on Modcloth that I would love to own.

Strange Love

I love Rumi, okay? <3>

I came across this on Pinterest and it immediately spoke to me. It was the stirring feeling of when you read something or look at something and it just resonates with your soul. I love that feeling.

My strange love pulls me to green forests, rocky riverbeds, salty shores, and crumbling temples to long-ago gods and goddesses.

Where does your strange love pull you?
