I Am Grateful 8/8/13

Gratitude is a practice
via Pinterest
Today I am missing my boyfriend (who is away for a couple of days) and am trying to keep busy in the meantime. I've been cleaning, writing blog posts for the next week or so, catching up on some other blogs, making jewelry, and reading. I don't like having him gone over night. But to cheer myself up and lighten my heart I thought today would be a great day to list some things I'm currently grateful for.

Waking up next to Eli laying on my legs and keeping me company while I sleep.
Chai tea with coconut milk.
Shelves filled with books that can whisk me away at anytime.
Upbeat music to keep me motivated and optimistic.
The unconditional love of the few family members I am close to.

Things are not always easy for me and sometimes I am an absolute wreck. But I have things in my life that I am truly grateful for. There is so much love around me. For that I am so so thankful.

What are you grateful for today?

  3. I love that image! Also I really enjoyed this whole post. I have been thinking about gratitude a lot lately, and realizing how important it is. I am grateful to have stability in my life, through my family and my relationship. I am grateful that my parents are giving me the chance to get a great education as well as the chance to travel. And so many more things.

    1. I think that it is so important to take time to really think about all the things in life to be grateful for. It helps keep my optimistic and feeling happy instead of letting the negative stuff weigh me down.

    1. I looove coconut milk! I don't drink dairy milk so we keep coconut, soy, or almond in the fridge instead :)

  5. I agree - I am loving the idea of chai + coconut milk!

I also love the exercise of being grateful when things feel otherwise difficult. It helps to draw more of the good stuff! <3

    1. It is sooo delicious!

And making these little lists when I'm feeling a bit down help keep me grounded and optimistic instead of letting myself spiral into negativity.

  6. Oh man, I love chai... but I dislike coconut milk. I must try 'tis with almond milk, which I l-o-v-e! I never even thought of this!!! Also, I think having someone lay on your leg(s), whether it's a loved one cuddled up, or a pet, is so soothing! I think I'd be right at home in a kitty/puppy pile.

I can't imagine the thought of Jen being gone for even an hour (severe separation anxiety on my part, a little on hers) so I can't even begin to think of how you feel. But you always have company right here. :) You need me, I'm there, always an e-mail away!

    1. Aw, thanks hun :) I definitely don't like being separated from him but I manage. I just sped a lot of time reading or watching Netflix to help distract me
