Bottom of the River

Hold my hand
Ooh, baby, it’s a long way down to the bottom of the river
Hold my hand,
Ooh, baby, it’s a long way down, a long way down

If you get sleep or if you get none
(The cock’s gonna call in the morning, baby)
Check the cupboard for your daddy’s gun
(Red sun rises like an early warning)
The Lord’s gonna come for your first born son
(His hair’s on fire and his heart is burning)
Go to the river where the water runs
(Wash him deep where the tides are turning)

And if you fall....
And if you fall....

Hold my hand
Ooh, baby, it’s a long way down to the bottom of the river
Hold my hand,
Ooh, baby, it’s a long way down, a long way down

The wolves will chase you by the pale moonlight
(Drunk and driven by a devil’s hunger)
Drive your son like a railroad spike
(Into the water, let it pull him under)
Don’t you lift him, let him drown alive
(The good Lord speaks like a rolling thunder)
Let that fever make the water rise
(And let the river run dry)

And I said

Hold my hand
Ooh, baby, it’s a long way down to the bottom of the river
Hold my hand,
Ooh, baby, it’s a long way down, a long way down
Hold my hand
Ooh, baby, it's a long way, a long long long way
Hold my hand
Ooh, baby, it's a long way down, a long way down

Head down, swaying to my own sound

Eli being adorable, per usual.
Hello lovelies, just dropping in for a random life update. I've had the lovely Sue with me for the last week, camping out in my room and keeping me company. Activities have included walks downtown to eat at the diner, buying nailpolish, baking cookies and drinking wine from the bottle, crying over Teen Wolf, reading until we pass out, and dancing around like the weirdos that we are. Needless to say, it' been fantastic.

We've been talking a lot, discussing what we want from life, and making loose plans for the future. To be honest, there's not a whole lot keeping me here in New England. Right now I am trying to get control of my anxiety issues (it's been going well so far actually), find work, finish my degree, and work on getting my license. But after all that, I just don't know. I don't want anything in particular. I want to write and work a job that doesn't suck, and be with my cat and Sue, take long walks, make magic, and smile a lot.

Sue wants to move down to St. Augustine in the next two years. I'll probably go with her. Because I don't want to be separated from my best friend and the warm weather sounds nice and so does the general change of scenery. I want something different. I like Massachusetts well enough, but I have lived here my entire life. I'm sick of the same things, sick of more cold weather than anything else, sick of going the same places and doing the same things. I think moving south would be good for me. Getting away just sounds great actually.

In the meantime though I'm just doing things that make me happy. I read a lot, write, go jogging, dance around my room, make jewelry, talk to Sue and my mom, and am making plans to go to Warped Tour this summer and spend a lot of time lounging in the sun by the water.

I'm working a lot on my self confidence and feeling better about who I am and how I look. It's an ongoing process, of course, but I've been feeling better about the kind of person I am. I have issues, yeah, but everyone does, and when it comes down to it, I'm not half bad really.

I don't know you guys, this has been a post. And this is a song that me and Sue have been listening to a lot lately...

Strictly Rude (some more music)

I have some actual posts being worked on right now but I have been lazy and haven't finished any of them yet. I still wanted to put something up though, so here is one of my favourite songs ever. It's just one of those tunes that you never get sick of and is brilliant every time you listen to it.

See her in the city and say
Oo she's got a lovely way
True she don't want to play
She has you going your way

I pop no style
I'm strictly rude
I pop no style
I'm strictly rude

See her in the club and you call out to me, true
See her, when I look she winks
See her dancing in the black
Waiting for me to attack

Drink a little beer, smoke, we're winos I think
An uptown, top right kid

See me and she pulls against me
Soon dancing is a constant thing,
checks to see I'm Allston boy, and I am
So now she knows my ring

When we leave, she rides with me
I'm an uptown, top right kid

Shall you see us driving we both sing
Check-o we're jamming everything
She says, "Loving's all I bring-
And I'm carrying for you, if you'll be my man"

She pops no style
She's strictly rude
She pops no style
She's strictly rude

When two fit, it makes you think
I got the cute one, my woman
She says, "Lovin's all I bring"
And it's her loving that's a wonderful thing

We pop no style
We're strictly rude
We pop no style
We're strictly rude

Lovin' yes we are, it's such a wonderful thing
When two fit it makes you think
See us both in the black
She lays on me so relaxed

Drink a little beer, smoke, we're winos I think
We're uptown, top right kids

See her in the club and she calls out to me
She winks as she's clawing at me
See us both in the black
She looks at me so relaxed

Drink a little beer, smoke, we're winos I think
Drink a little beer, smoke, we're winos I think

She says, "Lovin's all I bring"
And it's that lovin' that's a wonderful thing

We pop no style
We're strictly rude
We pop no style
We're strictly rude

A Lean & Hungry Look

I've been listening to this song a lot lately. I absolutely love it and it fits with the music I've been listening to for Nanowrimo. Just thought I'd share.

I was bored so I took webcam photos and played with them in photoshop and then I made a gif of myself. Because why not?

Is it Halloween yet? I wish it could be October all year round. This is my favourite month, hands down. Leaves changing and falling, weather just cool enough for boots and a sweater but not cold enough for heavy jackets, and everything pumpkin and Halloween. I am a summer child, definitely, but there is something so magical about autumn that I cannot resist.

Still not sure exactly what I am doing for Halloween though. I will of course have some sort of personal ritual, but I'm not sure about party plans or anything like that. I haven't even really decided on a costume yet. Luckily I'm the type of person with a weird enough wardrobe that I almost never need to buy things to dress up.

Also, the new NBC Dracula show starts up in about a week. Anyone else going to watch it? I'm super excited. Victorian era vampires is pretty much everything I need in life. I don't care how much "hype" vamps get, I am a dedicated fang-fangirl for life. Whoo, alliteration, haha.

Also, I have this song stuck in my head because it's awesome, don't judge me for listenignt o Victorious music, okay?

This has been a pretty random post. Tell me what you're up to!

If I Had A Heart

This will never end
'Cause I want more
More, give me more
Give me more

This will never end
Cause I want more
More, give me more
Give me more

If I had a heart I could love you
If I had a voice I would sing
After the night when I wake up
I'll see what tomorrow brings

If I had a voice, I would sing

Dangling feet from window frame
Will I ever ever reach the floor?
More, give me more, give me more

Crushed and filled with all I found
Underneath and inside
Just to come around
More, give me more, give me more

If I had a voice, I would sing

-------
I don't know you guys, I feel weird lately.

You've Got The Love

You've Got The Love - Florence + the Machine

Sometimes I feel like throwing my hands up in the air
I know I can count on you
Sometimes I feel like saying "Lord I just don't care"
But you've got the love I need To see me through

Sometimes it seems that the going is just too rough
And things go wrong no matter what I do
Now and then it seems that life is just too much
But you've got the love I need to see me through

When food is gone you are my daily meal
When friends are gone I know my saviour's love is real
Your love is real

You got the love
You got the love
You got the love
You got the love
You got the love
You got the love

Time after time I think "Oh Lord what's the use?"
Time after time I think it's just no good
Sooner or later in life, the things you love you loose
But you got the love I need to see me through

You got the love
You got the love
You got the love
You got the love
You got the love
You got the love

Sometimes I feel like throwing my hands up in the air
I know I can count on you
Sometimes I feel like saying "Lord I just don't care"
But you've got the love I need to see me through

You got the love
You got the love
You got the love
You got the love
You got the love
You got the love

Zombie (In Your Head)

Zombie - The Cranberries

Another head hangs lowly,
Child is slowly taken.
And the violence caused such silence,
Who are we mistaken?

But you see, it's not me, it's not my family.
In your head, in your head they are fighting,
With their tanks and their bombs,
And their bombs and their guns.
In your head, in your head, they are crying...

In your head, in your head,
Zombie, zombie, zombie,
Hey, hey, hey. What's in your head,
In your head,
Zombie, zombie, zombie?
Hey, hey, hey, hey, oh, dou, dou, dou, dou, dou...

Another mother's breakin',
Heart is taking over.
When the vi'lence causes silence,
We must be mistaken.

It's the same old theme since nineteen-sixteen.
In your head, in your head they're still fighting,
With their tanks and their bombs,
And their bombs and their guns.
In your head, in your head, they are dying...

In your head, in your head,
Zombie, zombie, zombie,
Hey, hey, hey. What's in your head,
In your head,
Zombie, zombie, zombie?
Hey, hey, hey, hey, oh, oh, oh,
Oh, oh, oh, oh, hey, oh, ya, ya-a...

The Last Exam + Packing

I took my last exam today and I think I did alright actually. I was kind of worried about the class but the test wasn't as hard as I anticipated and I'm pretty sure I at least aced the essay question. Which means I am done with schoolwork for the semester! Hurrah!

And now I am on to packing. Again. D:

But I am rocking out today:

I watched Rock of Ages last night and I loooved it and now all I want to do is listen to 80s hair metal. Which is, of course, exactly what I'm doing while packing.

The mound of clothes to be folded and zipped up in suitcases:

Rock out with me?

The Carnival is Over

The Carnival is Over - Dead Can Dance

Outside

The storm clouds gathering,
Moved silently along the dusty boulevard.
Where flowers turning crane their fragile necks
So they can in turn
Reach up and kiss the sky.
They are driven by a strange desire
Unseen by the human eye
Someone is calling.
I remember when you held my hand
In the park we would play when the circus came to town.
Look! Over here.
Outside
The circus gathering
Moved silently along the rainswept boulevard.
The procession moved on the shouting is over
The fabulous freaks are leaving town.
They are driven by a strange desire
Unseen by the human eye.
The carnival is over
We sat and watched
As the moon rose again
For the very first time.

The First Taste

The First Taste - Fiona Apple
I lie in an early bed thinking late thoughts
Waiting for the black to replace my blue
I do not struggle in your web because it was my aim to get caught
But daddy longlegs, I feel that I'm finally growing weary
Of waiting to be consumed by you

Give me the first taste
Let it begin, heaven cannot wait forever
Darling just start the chase
I'll let you win, but you must make the endeavor

Oh, your love give me a heart contusion
Adagio breezes fill my skin with sudden red
Your hungry flirt borders intrusion
And I'm building memories on things we have not said

Full is not heavy as empty, not nearly my love
Not nearly my love, not nearly

Give me the first taste
Let it begin, heaven cannot wait forever
Darling, just start the chase
I'll let you win, but you must make the endeavor

The first taste
Let it begin, heaven cannot wait forever
Start the chase, I'll let you win
But you must make the endeavor

//I just have this song stuck in my head.
Happy Monday lovelies :)

Stripped

Stripped - Shiny Toy Guns

Come with me
Into the trees
We'll lay on the grass
And let the hours pass

Take my hand
Come back to the land
Lets get away
Just for one day

Let me see you
Stripped down to the bone
Let me see you
Stripped down to the bone

Metropolis
Has nothing on this
You're breathing in fumes
I taste when we kiss

Take my hand
Come back to the land
Where everything's ours
For a few hours

Let me see you
Stripped down to the bone
Let me see you
Stripped down to the bone

Let me hear you
Make decisions
Without your television
Let me hear you speaking
Just for me

Let me see you
Stripped down to the bone

Let me hear you speaking
Just for me

Let me see you
Stripped down to the bone let me hear you crying
Just for me

Extraordinary Machine

"Extraordinary Machine"
Fiona Apple

I certainly haven't been shopping for any new shoes
-And-
I certainly haven't been spreading myself around
I still only travel by foot and by foot, it's a slow climb,
But I'm good at being uncomfortable, so
I can't stop changing all the time

I notice that my opponent is always on the go
-And-
Won't go slow, so's not to focus, and I notice
He'll hitch a ride with any guide, as long as
They go fast from whence he came
- But he's no good at being uncomfortable, so
He can't stop staying exactly the same

If there was a better way to go then it would find me
I can't help it, the road just rolls out behind me
Be kind to me, or treat me mean
I'll make the most of it, I'm an extraordinary machine

I seem to you to seek a new disaster every day
You deem me due to clean my view and be at peace and lay
I mean to prove I mean to move in my own way, and say,
I've been getting along for long before you came into the play

I am the baby of the family, it happens, so
- Everybody cares and wears the sheeps' clothes
While they chaperone
Curious, you looking down your nose at me, while you appease
- Courteous, to try and help - but let me set your
Mind at ease

(Chorus)

-Do I so worry you, you need to hurry to my side?
-It's very kind
But it's to no avail; I don't want the bail
I promise you, everything will be just fine

If there was a better way to go then it would find me
I can't help it, the road just rolls out behind me
Be kind to me, or treat me mean
I'll make the most of it, I'm an extraordinary machine.

Hope you're all having a lovely Monday and enjoy the music.

Grow Up and Blow Away...

by Metric

Floating the room
Two by two
From the womb
To the holiday
There is no holiday
First double-cross her heart
He wants to start a family
Needing something to go on

If she weren't writing in blood
She'd bring him her jokes
A new liver
And a shovel for the mud
If he were not knee-deep in mud
He'd bring her his drugs
He'd get her a typewriter

If this is the life
Why does it feel so good to die today?
Blue to gray
Grow up and blow away...

If this is the life
Why does it feel so good to die today?
Blue to gray
Grow up and blow away...

Nobody knows which street to take
He took the easy way
What was the easy way?
First double-cross her heart
He wants to start a family
She always thought she would not.

If she weren't writing in blood
She'd bring him her jokes
A new liver
And a shovel for the mud
If he were not knee-deep in mud
He'd bring her his drugs
He'd get her a typewriter

If this is the life
Why does it feel so good to die today?
Blue to gray
Grow up and blow away...

If this is the life
Why does it feel so good to die today?
Blue to gray
Grow up and blow away...

First double-cross her heart
He wants to start a family
Her body is the baby.

If this is the life
Why does it feel so good to die today?
Blue to gray
Grow up and blow away...

If this is the life
Why does it feel so good to die today?
Blue to gray
Grow up and blow away...

Blue to gray
Grow up and blow away...
Blue to gray
Grow up and blow away...
Blue to gray
Grow up and blow away...
Blue to gray
Grow up and blow away...

Really feeling this song tonight. Any song you're into right now?

Soul Music (New Moon)

Picture is not of me, found on Tumblr.
It's a New Moon tonight and after a candlelit herbal bath to relax and refresh my spirit I became inspired to share with you all some of the music that seems to speak directly to my soul. You know the kind of music -those songs that when you hear them your heart jumps in your chest, your spirit leaps in recognition, and your whole being just connects with the tune.

This is some of my soul music.

I couldn't get two of the songs I wanted to add to the playlist, so if you get a chance, look up
+Sign of the Zodiac by Rasputina
+They by Jem

I hope you enjoy the music. Happy New Moon!

Music Monday: Fight Like A Girl!

After months of waiting, Emilie Autumn's newest album is finally here! It was released on July 23rd after an anxious countdown by the Plague Rat community.

I know I haven't done many Music Monday's (sorry!) and that Emilie Autumn has been a key figure already, but I love her to pieces and am so excited for this album that I thought she deserved another post.

Fight Like A Girl serves as a companion to Emilie's book, The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls although you need not to have read it in order to enjoy the music. It just adds another layer to the lyrics of the songs and a deeper understanding of their meanings. If you're interested in the book I highly recommend it, but if you can borrow it from someone you should. It's pricey (for good reason-it's large, weighs about 5 pounds, is in full colour, and it filled with art) but if you're a die-hard plague rat like myself it's worth the money.

Anyways! The new album! If you like alternative-rock-industrial-classically influenced-awesomeness then you will probably like this album! Haha, I know that probably doesn't make much sense but Emilie's music is always kind of hard to explain if you haven't heard it before. She has a unique sound to say the least.

And because the album goes with the book, the songs are about a horror story of an asylum for girls (most of whom aren't actually crazy) that includes medication, blood, death and tea.

If you're not into that kind of thing, I totally understand. It's not for everyone, but it speaks to me and I find it beautiful and fascinating.

Here's a few of my favourites from this album:

I know there are some of her fans out there that weren't impressed with this album, but I think it's wonderful. I am an avid lover and supporter of all her work and I think Fight Like A Girl is a wonderful addition to her music.

Warped Tour 2012 (Music Monday!)

This year marks the fourth year that I have made going to Warped Tour a part of my summer and it was just as awesome as ever. For those of you who aren't from the States and are not aware of what Warped Tour is then let me quickly explain. It's a touring musical festival run by Vans. They travel across the U.S. and set up in various cities to play. Tons of bands are on it every year with merch tents and the like. Other organizations and companies also jump in such as To Write Love On Her Arms, Skelanimals, Action for Animals, Truth, Peace Tea, etc. I'll show you all the merch I got later on this week.

The bands this year were not too bad. There have been better years but we still got to see Taking Back Sunday, Streetlight Manifesto, Lostprophets, and Ballyhoo. Other bands there included Yellowcard, Senses Fail, Polar Bear Club, and New Found Glory. Here are some not-so-great phone pictures!

Lostprophets
Streetlight Manifesto
Ballyhoo
Like I said, the pictures aren't great. And as you can see there were tons of people. The crowd for Streetlight Manifesto was insane, and the one at Taking Back Sunday was even more so. Lostprophets put on an amazing performance. Me and Mike came in just as they were playing Rooftops (great song!) and I was really surprised about how energetic the lead singer was. He was so excited and pumped up, it was great. I love when artists get like that on stage.

The lead singer of Ballywho was even more energetic though which was really impressive because they were the last show at 8:30. Totally worth staying for -they were amazing! They have a very similar sound to early Green Day meets Sublime. I definitely recommend checking them out. I kind of wish I'd gotten one of their shirts.

As far as birthdays go, this one was pretty amazing! Yep, I turned 22 yesterday and got to spend all day at a music festival. Talk about a good time.

Today has also been pretty great actually. I've spent most of it relaxing, but it was nice to check my etsy shop today and see that I had sold two items. I know for a lot of handmade shop owners that's nothing, but I'm still a beginner and seeing that was really exciting. Thank you to everyone who reads this blog, looks at my shop, and buys my things. You have no idea how much it means to me.

P.S. Here's some Ballyhoo for you!

Earthfest 2012

Me, my boyfriend, this lady, and a few friends were lucky enough to be able to get out to Boston yesterday for Earthfest! For those of your outside the area, Earthfest in a free concert put on by Radio 92.9 and Wholefoods to promote green living, organic food, and taking care of the environment.

This year the bands were pretty awesome. We got to see Eve 6, Switchfoot, The Spin Doctors, and Third Eye Blind... for free! All we had to do was get there in time to snag a piece of grass, sit back, and enjoy! It was so much fun, and I don't even regret getting the sunburn I am now sporting. The weather was beautiful, with no clouds in the sky. I'll take a bit of a burn to see awesome bands and spend time with the people I love.

Here are a few pictures from the day:

The stage when Eve 6 was playing.

I don't know what's going on with this pic xD

Sue blowing bubbles at me.

Sue and Mike being weirdos as always.

<3 <3 <3

Great day overall, and a wonderful way to spend a Saturday. Anyone else do something cool this weekend?
