Dreadlock Journey: The Beginning

I have started my dreadlock journey. I am reading up on the history of them whenever I get the chance and in the mean time I have started the "neglect method" which will take longer but it the least amount of effort. Plus, I don't want dreads right away (mostly because of my job, but also because of my hair length) so this method seemed like a good fit. I will probably add a few "twist and rip" locks in sometime soon though.

As of right now I haven't brushed my hair in about a week and am washing it every 3 days.

This is what my nest currently looks like. It's a wreck and I love it. I love not brushing my hair. I love being lazy about it. I love the wildness of it, it's exactly what I want and need right now.

Did you guys know that dreadlocks have been a chosen hair style by tons of people across the world for centuries? I didn't, but it makes sense if you think about it. Sure you can make dreadlocks using lots of methods, but just simple neglect will do it.

That's all I've got for now. More pictures in a few weeks perhaps? As well as some information I've found. I am so excited to be on this journey. I know it's just hair but this feels like the right thing to do. The wild women in me is pleased.
