Style Inspiration

I am in serious need of some new clothes you guys. I got rid of a lot of stuff when I moved and mostly I have been living in leggings and t-shirts. I could really use some new pieces but I just don't have the extra money for it, which sucks. That doesn't mean, of course, that I haven't been looking at things and torturing myself. So here's some looks that I have been digging lately, all of which can be found on my Pinterest.

Are you sensing a general theme? Honestly there's not much I love more than black clothes and leather jackets. What I wear varies a lot, I have a wide style range, but I will always migrate back to this aesthetic. (Also all photos except the 3rd are linked to their sources -I couldn't find the right source for the 3rd one unfortunately.)

Style Inspiration: Glam Punk

Lately I've been feeling the glam punk look as far as style goes. I move between so many different aesthetics on a regular basis, but the past week or so I have wanted nothing but sparkly dresses, heeled boots, plaid leggings, and leather jackets.

sosungalittleclodofclay:fashinpirate:I’ve tried this on in red and black in both New York and London and every time I want to smother my entire naked body over it because it’s an obscenely perfect piece of craftsmanship and I am sexually attracted to the perfect wardrobe. It’s just… BONING??? KNITTED?? RIBBED??? THINGS THAT ARE HAPPENING? SO many things that are happening. If I owned this I would just walk around in lingerie and this all the time only. Maybe also a PVC skirt. But mostly just be as naked as possible. God. One of my favorite (and also the most unexpected) of partnerships of recent past. I want it

That last jacket is soooo expensive, but goddamn it is beautiful. Also I am hoping I can figure out how to do something similar to that braid faux-mohawk with my hair now that's gotten longer. I'll probably make a mess of it but at least it will give me something to do.

Fall Styling Inspiration: Jackets

How awesome is that hairstyle? I don't think I could ever manage it on my own unfortunately. I can't wait for the weather cool down again (it's been hoooot here the past few days) so I can wear knee-high socks and sweaters, and leave my hair down.

Style Inspiration

I have spent a lot of time recently admiring clothes and style, so happy to be able to break out my warm weather clothes and see other peoples. I like clothes, what can I say?

Here's some of my wardrobe inspirations all via my pinterest.

I'm very into the bohemian aesthetic with witchy/goth vibes added to it. Flowing fabric, feathers, crystals, leather jackets, denim vests, boots -you get the picture. I am hoping to sell some of my old clothes (how interested are you guys in a "shop my closet" store??) and thrift some new ones for the summer. I could really use a few new pairs of shorts and loose tanks.

I'm stepping away from the computer today though (instead of drooling over these clothes more) and spending the day food shopping and working outside for my boyfriend's grandmother (yard work, brush burning) and probably some hoop & waterside time.

Happy Beltane!

It's May 1st, which means that it is Beltane! And here in Mass, it is a beautiful day out. My love took me for ice cream at my favourite local place (I have been going there since I was a toddler) and we fed the goats (they have goats!) and soaked up some sun before he had to head off to work. While he is away I am hoping to list some new stuff in the shop, craft something (I have no idea what, still in the process of brainstorming), and will be holding my own private celebration and ritual. Perhaps baking will be involved.

Oh! And I received the items I ordered from ever+mi.crush that I bought with the credit I won via The Dainty Squid! I am so excited about both pieces, I love them both so much! They fit like a dream and look so lovely!

EcoShag & Kooky Clothes

This is one of my very rare personal style posts! Are you ready for it? Honestly I wish I did more stuff like this but until I get my own camera I don't see it happening. But moving on, this style post was inspired by one of my all time favourite etsy shops, EcoShag. I got my first headscarf from the creator, Tania, in November (I think) of last year and I was absolutely smitten with it. It's beautifully made and so very pretty.

This is it:

But recently I got a second one and I am even more in love with this one than the first. Everything about it is perfect. The colour is incredible, the material is so soft (seriously, I spent forever just touching it) and it looks great. I am so excited to rock it all through spring and try out new ways to wear it.

First off, look at this packaging:

Good packaging always amps up the excitement of what's inside, don't you agree? Plus, that cord has definitely made it's way into my jewelry stash and is waiting to be recycled into something new. I love acquiring supplies form unexpected places.

Anyways! A few days after getting it I wore it out during one of my and my boyfriends walks through the Quabbin Reservoir and he was kind enough to snap a few photos of it and the rest of my kooky clothes for the day.

I got these overalls at Salvation Army for $0.99 and although they are a bit big on me they are one of my all-time favourite pieces of clothing. They're super comfy and so cool. I mean, they're covered in stars and moons. There is nothing not fabulous about that.

Style Obsession // Maxi Dresses

Okay, so my last style obsession post was about dresses and I am still thoroughly smitten with that fashion bug. Only lately I find myself drawn in my lovely, flowing maxi dresses. I love them! Unfortunately, I only own one. Booo! Hopefully I can rectify that this spring.

These are the ones I am drooling over from Lulu's.

Quiksilver Indigo Splash Dress - Striped Dress - Strapless Dress - Maxi Dress - $74.50 Roxy World Waiting Dress - Grey Dress - Maxi Dress - $64.50

How lovely are those? I have been trying really hard to be more open to lighter colours. I am usually a black and jewel tones kind of girl, mostly because I'm typically so pale I think anything light-coloured makes me look ghastly. That's probably just in my head though. Like I said, I'm working on it.

Style Obsession // Dreaming in Dresses

For some reason I have been infatuated with internet window shopping for dresses these past few days. Ever since eShakti sent me that lovely dress I have been wishing my closet held more beautiful feminine garments. I have dresses of course, but not nearly as many as I would like! I would love to make dress-wearing a normal part of my life.

Unfortunately, due to complete lack of money, all my dress dreaming is remaining just that -dreaming. But while I only own these dresses in my fantasies, I still wanted to share them with you. These are all from Modcloth and things that I think would make perfect additions to my wardrobe.

How lovely are those? The middle one is sold out though which is kind of a bummer. Not that I have the money for it anyways, but still.

Julep!

I found Julep through Kaelah's blog and was immediately interested when she mentioned the word "free" paired with "nailpolish." Free nailpolish? I am totally into that. I couldn't resist.

Julep is one of those sites that has a subscription box (you become a "Maven" by signing up for it) and to determine which box you get you take a quiz to determine your style. You get to preview your box before it ships and if you don't like the contents you can skip the month. I like that there is not chance to end up with a box of colours you don't like that you paid for. Sometimes surprises are nice, but not always!

Anyways, my style profile is "It Girl" which is surprisingly accurate. I feel like style quizzes never get my look right and I am stuck with a profile that only suits my style 1/3 of the time at best. This one gets me right though. And I love the introductory box of colours they sent me (for free!)

Here's a better picture of the colours because I know mine is not the best. (I am stuck with a not-the-best phone camera unfortunately and photoshop can only work so much magic.)
Pinned Image
Unfortunately these are no longer the It Girl introductory colours. The new ones are pretty rad though and you can take a peek at them here.

The polish is really great, some of the best I own. It didn't chip at all in the first three days and even after almost of week there are only a few small chips around the edges. It covers well (I only needed one coat) and I am in love with the green colour. It reminds me of spring! I can't wait to give the other two a try.

All in all I am extremely happy with this box of goodies and I can't wait to have some extra cash to buy more colours. They have a few purpley-reds that are calling out to me.

What I Wore w/ eShakti

Recently I was contacted by this wonderful online clothing shop called eShakti about doing a product review for them. After taking a look at what they had to offer I enthusiastically accepted. They have beautiful clothing! Tons of vintage and retro inspired dresses that are to die for.

And the cool thing about eShakti is that you can have the clothes custom tailored to you! You can either pick a standard size or provide your measurements to assure that you get the perfect fit! And they will even adjust the length for you. How awesome is that? I love the idea of a company catering to the needs of each individual woman and treating them as they are -unique and completely different than any other woman.

This is the dress I chose. I picked the standard US size 8 and had the length adjusted so that it hit just above my knee. Being short means that midi skirts and dresses are not the most flattering look for me. But having it hemmed up resulted in the perfect length and a lovely look. I am so happy with it!

I mean seriously, how great is this dress? It fits like a dream, is relatively easy to get on and off, and is  pretty high quality. It's definitely one of the nicest pieces in my wardrobe. It even has pockets!

I really adore the detailing. Black and gold is one of my favourite colour combinations, and I love how retro yet bohemian looking the stitching design is. Just my taste. I was also pleasantly surprised at how much I love the pleated skirt. I like pleated skirts but I usually feel like they don't suit me. I'm glad I took the chance on this one though, a definite hit.

I know the lightning changes a lot in these photos, sorry! Not the best camera + different angles in the sun + not a whole lot of time to get perfect shots of everything.

I searched my entire jewelry collection trying to find a necklace that matched this outfit but couldn't find a single one! My gold jewelry is seriously lacking. I really want a dainty gold necklace to go with this dress, preferably one with a rabbit or a cat. I also really like the way the dress looks sans cardigan, but I was cold enough taking these pictures as it was. February New England weather is not really fit for sleeveless dresses.

Also, I know my hair looks a mess, I am dreading it after all. The most I can do with it right now is pull it back into a ponytail so it doesn't look quite so insane.

Style Obsession // Leggings

My last style obsession post was about harem pants, of which I now have a pair of that I got off ebay but I could definitely use some more. But my current obsession is definitely leggings. They are just so comfortable and they look great with pretty much anything. I have been wearing a pair with an oversized sweater and fuzzy socks almost every other day for the past two weeks. So I thought I would share a few pairs of leggings that I have currently and ones I'm lusting after.

First and foremost, my very lovely Noctex leggings!
These are the leggings I wore for my Demon costume this past Halloween. I absolutely love them. They are beyond comfy and they are high-waisted enough that I am not worried about them falling down. Plus, they just look bad ass, right? Right.

I also have these awesome leggings. (Not pictures of me, sorry!)

Galaxy leggings from ebay. Sunset leggings from Romwe.

I also have two pairs of comfy ankle-length leggings from Forever21.

Aaaand I am expecting these lovelies from Romwe:
Classic Gold Velvet Wine-red Leggings

I have more but they're just solid-coloured leggings mostly from random places. My love for leggings has pretty much skyrocketed since I thrifted a few pairs and once I realized how comfy they were I was hooked.  A lot of the times I am too lazy to put together a really nice outfit, at least lately I am. Leggings are the perfect solution. They look great and you don't have to wear real pants! Haha.

Anyways, here are a few pairs that I am currently wishing would magickally appear in my closet:
Romantic Kiss Print Leggings 3 Sneaky Cats Womens Black Leggings Capri Style
Velvet leggings with ornaments

I may or may not have a leggings-problem. Shhh...
